EAT REAL FOODS

2010
07.07

found this on a web site today, it means a lot to me to think about this all the time.

“Be wary of any food that has been created by humans rather than nature. The ingredients on the labels of processed foods, such as the average cracker or potato chip, are mind-boggling. If I don’t know what it is, it’s not going into my body.”

The Abs Diet?

2010
07.07

Diets are all a bit of a wash to me. Plain and simple it’s not the diet that fixes the issue, the behavior fixes the issue. All the diets out there resolve the issues that got us into out mess. It’s about food and exercise. I don’t care how you break it down that is the core of every diet.

I have been reading about every other diet out there and found THE ABS DIET, and was intrigue because of the step promises and the hype around it. I am considering doing it for two weeks and see if it holds up to it’s name and claims.

hCG Coaching @ work

2010
05.03

I have shared my success with the diet with people at work. Hell it’s hard to walk around now without someone asking me where I have disappeared too? A few of those brave souls have purchased hCG and jumped in with both feet.  I am not going to disclose the names of the people but would like to report the weigh lose so you know how great this is.

Male 1 -Over 31 pounds in 40 days
Female 1 – Over 23 Pounds in 20 days
Female 2 – Over 17 Pounds in 14 days
Female 3 – Over 13 pounds in 8 days

There is another guy that I found out later was doing hCG without ever talking to me. He has lost over 25 pounds last I talked to him.

This really does work. It really is good and you are not as dependent on food as you were before you start. All it takes is a little bit of will power! For those need hCG and stabilize, you know who you are, stop messing around and just do it.

Diet by Blood Type?

2010
05.03

I found this on the Daily Mail and sadly I don’t know my blood type off the top of my head. I think that should be on your drivers license?

In Eat Right For Your Type Dr D’Admao matches the blood type to dietary recommendations, summarised here.

The O diet Eat meat (high protein, low carbohydrate). Cut out wheat and most other grains. Engage in vigorous aerobic exercise. Your risk factors for ulcers and inflammatory diseases such as arthritis increase if you eat incorrectly for your type.

The A diet You should be largely vegetarian (eating a high carbohydrate, low fat diet). Engage in gentle exercise such as yoga or golf and meditate to deal with stress. Your risk factors for cancer and heart disease increase if you eat incorrectly, according to Dr D’Admao.

The B diet You should have the most varied diet of all the blood types, one including meat; yours is the only blood type that does well with dairy products. Engage in exercise such as moderate swimming or walking. Your risk for slow-growing viruses that attack the nervous system increases if you eat incorrectly for your type.

The AB diet You have most of the benefits and intolerances of types A and B, so most foods which are recommended for either type A or B will also work for you. Engage in calming exercises and relaxation techniques. You have the friendliest immune system.

In the UK 46 per cent of people have O type blood, 42 per cent A, nine per cent B and three per cent A/B.

Being FAT does not look pretty

2010
04.27

I found this on the Daily Mail (UK) and wanted to share. If you think being FAT looks bad on the outside, look at what it does to your insides. Plus look at how the frame or bones are not lining up or are being warped. That can’t be good either.

Phase 4 feet first

2010
04.17

Today starts Phase 4, and if you had told me 50 something days ago that it would have been this simple to lose 30 pounds I would have told you to “SHUT UP”.

This diet does work. It’s amazing!

I thought last night I would try something a bit of the “rich & indulgent” side of the diet. I took some Chicken Breast and covered them in permesian cheese then pan fried them. For veg I chopped up an onion & zuccini and stir fried them with some natural soy sauce (NO MSG). To be honest I was in heavan. So good in fact I would not have shared it with anyone and have kept what I ate to myself. To end the meal I had some organic yougurt with some stivia to make is sweet with blackberries in it.

I figured when I get up in the morning I am going to be up a pound at least and what do you know. . . 215.4! On the money!

So today on phase 4 I want to try to add some starch and sugar. So we started with some oatmeal (twas awesome) and poached eggs (my new best friends) and things are good.
Thank you needs to go out to Brenda for turning us onto the diet and for Kelly for being my partner and coach on the diet. I could not have done it without you. I would also like to thank all the poor helpless people at work who have had to listen to my mindless banter about the diet. You all might not be reading this but talking about the diet helped me keep it up.

FG – Keep it up man. You will be fine and the end is near and it’s working.

Why I don’t like Chick-fil-a anymore…

2010
04.16

Let me keep this post simple. Chick-fil-a used to be one of my favorite places to eat. I assumed they were health conscious. The chick is always good looking and seemed to be fresh. But after last night I know they are no more health conscious as any other crappy fast food restaurant.  It was Gino’s School Spirit night at Chick-fil-a. Hats off to Chick-fil-a for giving part of the nights earnings to the school. That is a nice thing to do and I applaud you for doing it.

My issue is not with the generosity, it’s with he quality of the food and the crap they are serving. For the record and full disclosure in the past I would have eaten at Chick-fil-a at least twice a week on any given week. Since I am still in the phase in my diet where I can’t have sugars or starches.  So I stayed clear of the usual favorites and had the Chargrilled Chicken Garden Salad with Caesar Dressing. It sounded like a good choice and seemed to be a nice portion.

First the salad tasted awful and the chicken it was horrible and could not have amounted to any more than about 2 – 3 oz. of chicken(uncooked). For a place with CHICKEN in the name you are going  lite on the chicken in the salads. I remember telling Kelly that no one was thinking “I can’t wait to get to Chick-fil-a and get a salad” because mine was awful. I then started reading the contents of the dressing and was just plain angry. Here is why:

This is what should be in Caesar Dressing:

1/2 to 3/4 cup croutons (see directions below)
1 coddled egg (see directions below)*
1 to 2 teaspoons finely chopped garlic (1 to 2 medium cloves with inner green germ removed)
1 anchovy fillet, mashed**
Pinch of coarse salt
2 tablespoons (1/2 lemon) freshly squeezed lemon juice***
3 drops Worcestershire sauce
6 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
4 tablespoons (1/4 cup) freshly grated Parmesan cheese (Parmigiano Reggiano), divided
Coarsely ground black pepper

That all seems pretty straight forward. Good ingredients and nothing out of line with some nice spices. You can make it one of a hundred ways but this way seems to be the most common.

What that said this is what Chick-fil-a puts in it’s dressing:

Soybean oil, water, egg yolk, lemon juice concentrate, white wine, and distilled vinegars, spices (including mustard seed), salt, parmesan cheese (part-skim milk, cheese culture, salt, enzymes), garlic*, onion*, olive oil, sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate added as preservatives, xanthan gum, molasses, corn syrup, natural flavor, propylene gylcol alginate, caramel color, sugar, calcium disodium EDTA added to protect flavor, anchovies, tamarind.

Really? Do you need to add SUGAR? MOLASSES? & CORN SYRUP? Really? Why? Why would you need to put that shit in your dressing? Why would you think that is healthy for anyone?

I’m sorry to have to do this to an old friend but that is just down right bad. Chick-fill-a talks a good game but is still faking it like everyone else int he evil fast food industry. Even the healthy food is full of sugar and corn syrup. I urge you to fix this as more and more people get smart about food you will continue to lose customers.

The moral of this story is no one in the eat out food industry cares about you or what you are eating. They are all faking it. I am starting to think the only person I can trust with my food is me. The other problem is now we have to convenience everyone else of this fact.

Farewell Chick-Fil-A, I think last night was the last time I will darken your door.

McHealthy Food not so good or healthy…

2010
04.09

Today while we were out we went to McHealthy in Charlotte, NC. We are looking for good places to eat. There are plenty of places to eat, but none that are good & healthy. We saw McHealthy one day driving by and thought we should check it out and we did. To start off the name is catchy and they are in a pretty decent location in a new area south of Charlotte. It’s inside is small but not crowded. The people in there were friendly, and that is when it all starts to go wrong I think.

The cost for 3 people(2 adults and 1 eight year old) to have lunch was over $25. Now I am all for eating healthy but that is a bit much for me. Granted we did order salads and soups, but we will cover that later. The preparation took forever. Not to say fresh is quick but for a good five minutes the owner wandered around not doing much of anything while the person helping here struggled to complete anything on her own. Maybe she was new or just over worked, but with only 3 customers in the place when we showed up they were not busy. The three people in there had already eaten. So we were the only new people to take care of almost the entire time we were there.

What did we order:

Gino had the special, Turkey Wrap
Kelly and I had salads and the special, Fresh Tomato Basil soup.
In the cooler were sodas that were sweetened by stivia which we had as well.

So with that said the salads where ok. I could have made the same thing at home for less than $5. Gino’s wrap looked good and he seemed to like it. The “Fresh Tomato & Basil Soup” was late arriving at the table, and some 5 minutes after she gave us the salads, then asked if we would let her know when we wanted them, which ment…I forgot them even thought Kelly had asked for them when the salads came out.

As the soup arrived I had a flash back momnet. It smelled like soup from when I was a kid, and you are thinking now this is a good thing, but you would be wrong. It was Campbells Canned Tomato soup with little chunks of freash tomato tossed in and heated in the micro…that really pissed me off.

To top it off the little bit of soup that was offered between the two bowls could not have even been one can of soup. And it was bad enough she gave is canned eighty-eight cent soup with bit of tomato, then there was no basil in it at all. If I wanted crappy processed Campbell’s tomato soup I could have gotten over 9 cans for what you charged me for less than half a can.

Let me recommend McHealthy’s if you have $30 dollars you need to piss away on a lunch that will make you wish you had skipped lunch. It was disappointing and I assure you we will not be going back.

Sadly the owner mentioned that she was about to open 2 more locations and to that I say you need to wok the kinks out of your operation first as it’s not going to do as well as you think. Slow and not a good value at all.

The best thing is the web site, while it is broken the get a point for running REDHAT. To bad REDHAT can’t fix your other issues.
